Trevethan Distillery

Trevethan Distillery arrives at Cocktails in the City with Holborn Dining Room, showcasing their Trevethan Cornish Dry Gin and the story behind one of Cornwall’s most quietly impressive craft distilleries. The brand traces its roots back to 1929, when Norman Trevethan created a homemade gin while working as a chauffeur to the Port Eliot Estate. His original recipe was rediscovered decades later, and in 2013 John Hall and Rob Cuffe, Norman’s grandson, rebuilt the distillery from scratch to bring that heritage back to life.

Based on the outskirts of Saltash in Cornwall, Trevethan is known for doing things the slow, meticulous way. Their gins are distilled in copper, shaped by classic London Dry technique, and bottled with a design that nods to the Art Deco era that inspired the original recipe. Over the past decade, the distillery has earned serious recognition: multiple IWSC Silver Medals between 2016 and 2020, followed by a breakthrough IWSC Gold Medal in 2021 and the title of IWSC UK Gin Distillery of the Year. In 2022, they achieved a Gold Outstanding Medal with an exceptional 98 points, placing them among the top-performing gin producers in the country.

Today, Trevethan produces a range of award-winning spirits including their Cornish Dry Gin, Chauffeur’s Reserve Navy Strength and Honey Oak expressions, all crafted with the same focus on precision and character. Their Cornish Dry Gin has been voted one of the world’s top 20 gins, and the distillery continues to innovate under John Hall, whose background as a chemist has led to new techniques and releases that push the category forward.

At Cocktails in the City, Holborn Dining Room will be pouring Trevethan Cornish Dry Gin in serves that highlight its clean citrus, juniper backbone and subtle spice. It’s a chance to meet the team, hear the story behind one of Cornwall’s most authentic craft distilleries, and taste a gin shaped by heritage, craft and a long run of award-winning credibility.
