Shochu Lounge has always been the moodier, more intimate sibling to the main Roka restaurant. Tucked beneath the action on Charlotte Street, it is a dimly lit, Japanese-inspired hideaway built around deep booths, glowing back bars, and a calm, late-night energy that feels a world away from the bustle above. It is the kind of place where the lighting does half the talking and the drinks do the rest.

For the July edition of Cocktails in the City, Shochu Lounge joins the Pan Asian Collective, one of this summer’s centrepieces and a celebration of the flavours, spirits and techniques that define modern Asian cocktail culture. Their lineup is built around a set of standout Japanese partners, each bringing something distinct to the experience. Kay Sake for clean, elegant structure. Ukiyo Nashi Pear Gin for bright, aromatic lift. Mt Fuji Whisky for depth and quiet complexity. And KAMI Shochu for that smooth, understated character that ties everything together.

Expect a menu that feels refined but welcoming, with Shochu Lounge showcasing how these spirits can move far beyond the obvious. It is a strong addition to the Pan Asian Collective and a chance for guests to explore a side of Japanese drinking culture that rarely gets this kind of spotlight outdoors in a private garden setting.
Shochu Lounge will also be hosting an afterparty on Thursday, 2nd July. Located only 300m from the festival.
