Founded by four friends passionate about mezcal, Zacal Mezcal collaborates with third-generation mezcalero Milton Ochoa. The brand’s production process is steeped in tradition, using organically grown Bruto and Manso agaves roasted with volcanic rock in underground ovens. This method, combined with Michoacán’s unique volcanic terroir, imparts a distinctive sweetness and complexity to their spirits.
Zacal Mezcal enters the UK market with two expressions: Manso and Ensamble. Manso, crafted from 100% Manso De Sahauyo agave, offers a delicate, lightly smoky profile at 45% ABV. Ensamble, a blend of Manso De Sahauyo and Bruto agaves, delivers a richer, more complex flavour at 50% ABV. Both expressions are designed to be approachable, appealing to mezcal enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Sustainability is at the heart of Zacal Mezcal’s mission. The brand uses recycled glass bottles, minimises water usage, and sources locally to reduce its environmental impact. Zacal is also working towards carbon neutrality and actively supports local communities in Michoacán.
