The name “Planteray Rum” pays homage to the essential elements of rum production. It combines “PLANT,” representing sugarcane—the source of rum—and “RAYs,” symbolizing the sun’s role in sugarcane growth and ripening.
Planteray Rum’s inaugural product is the Cut & Dry Coconut Rum, a result of four years of rigorous experimentation. This coconut-infused rum combines the authenticity of Barbadian rum with the freshness of local coconuts. The brand’s commitment to quality and innovation remains steadfast, and future releases will follow under the new name.
One of the unique aspects of Planteray Rum lies in its “double ageing” process. After initial ageing in the Caribbean, the rums are transported to France for further maturation in small French oak barrels. This secondary ageing imparts additional flavors and characteristics, resulting in a complex and refined spirit.
Planteray Rum continues to explore the great terroirs of rum worldwide, embodying the character and identity of each land of origin. From the Caribbean to the Indian and Pacific oceans, each expression reflects the rich heritage and craftsmanship associated with rum-making.
